During two years of planning and work, Alex and his team brought to life our very dilapidated, nearly 600-year-old barn. Alex worked with us, the conservation officer and planners to agree the best way to restore this ancient beauty. Alex totally understood the need to be sympathetic to the history and aesthetic of the building, communicating regularly in a calm and reassuring way, to ensure we all were fully aware of whatever stage of the restoration we were at. This also was reflected in all of the sub-contractors brought in to assist. Enormous care was taken to honour the building where it has stood for hundreds of years. the work shows a deep pride and artisanal eye and this carries through to the plaster work, painting, electrics and bathroom fittings. This is the second time we have used Woodgrove Contracts and would very happily use them again for any future building work. This time we embarked on a total house renovation and rear extension which obviously had its challenges as it was an older property and work commenced a few days before the Covid-19 lockdown. Even when supplies were difficult to source and labour scarce, the project went ahead smoothly. They were always happy to help and respond quickly to any questions or concerns, were very diligent and approachable. All the team working on our house were hard working, courteous and friendly.
